The year is 2143AD

Decades of total war, viral plagues, and ecological collapse have left the old world in ashes. From the ruins of the great nations, isolated city-states have risen like fortresses in a global dust bowl. In the walled sprawl of New Toronto, the Church of the Apocalypse reigns supreme under the erratic cruelty of the Blood Queen, defended by a nightmare legion of warrior monks and bio-engineered horrors.

To the south, the steel heart of Detroit has been forged into the headquarters of The First Colony. This expansionist militia hammers the wasteland into submission with high-tech ordnance and a terrifying vanguard of cyborgs. Between these powers lie the "Dead Lands," where lawless gangs scavenge what remains and cults fester in the shadows, unchallenged and hungry.

The Zombie Event

The planet has turned on its children. In a desperate bargain to cleanse the world, Mother Earth has invited the Legions of Hell to inhabit the human shell. The result is a sentient plague: zombies that retain the intellect and memories of their former lives, but none of their humanity.

They remember how to fire a rifle; they remember where you are hiding; they remember the sound of your voice. Under the iron fist of General Gutripper, these revenants have transformed from a mindless horde into a disciplined army of extermination. They do not just seek to feed—they seek to punish, utilizing their victims' own memories to maximize the agony of the final harvest.

The Human Resistance

In the shadow of the end, three unlikely ghosts converge. Commander Tatiana, the last standing officer of the First Colony, is a woman fueled by cold fury and grease. As a master robotics engineer, she has achieved the impossible: shackling a fallen Assault Borg to her will, its undead brain overridden by her own cybernetic fail-safes.

She is forced into a bitter truce with Sloan, a cannibal biker whose life has always been a blood-soaked road trip. To him, the apocalypse is just a change in scenery; as long as his axe is sharp and his motorcycle has fuel, he is at home in the chaos.

They are joined by The Vilmari, a survivor of a forgotten underground civilization. He is the pinnacle of human evolution, possessing peak physical form, yet he is a child in the face of the wasteland’s horrors. Together, they form a ticking time bomb of mistrust, bound together by the slim hope that their combined skills can stop General Gutripper’s march.

Books

The series started with issues 1 through 5 (2000–2005), passing from publisher Frightworld Studios to self-publishing under Bloody Gore Comix. Issue 8 was the last released issue in 2018, and a final book is currently in production. Spin-offs include Rise of the Blood Queen and Conquests of the First Colony, which serve as prequels to the main series; ZCFH vs. Psychohunter is a one-shot issue featuring a crossover with Ju Gomez's own series.

ZCFH : Extermination

In this cooperative combat card game based on the comic series, players take command of the demonic zombie hordes of Hell. They confer together, then take turns attacking the faction cards in play, intent on eliminating humankind's last remaining strongholds. Meanwhile, the factions offer ongoing resistance as they strive to establish their game-ending survival conditions.

Combat is quick, based on stats comparison, yet remains diverse thanks to a wide range of abilities. Game flow is fast-paced, yet decisions still have depth, including some deck-building undertones. Pick up the game and gather your friends. Do you have what it takes to achieve Gaia's ambition?
